Ski an 11-kilometre groomed trail network running through the forested, rolling hills of Grey County between Owen Sound and Meaford. Enjoy the solitude and beauty of a back-country ski with the added bonus of track-set grooming for classic cross country skiing (with two sets of tracks in many areas).

You’ll find a mix of trails from easy to intermediate, and while Massie Hills has its share of hills, including some steep sections, there’s nothing too extreme or too long.

The Owen Sound Cross Country Ski Club maintains the trails on Grey Sauble Conservation property, and our dedicated groomers head out early in the morning at least twice a week – with an additional second weekend groom when Mother Nature has been extra generous.

The varied terrain and mix of cedar, pine and hardwood bush makes the area excellent for snowshoeing treks – enjoyed best when you venture into the virgin snow well off to the side of the tracks. (Please be very mindful of the tracks.)

You’ll find donation boxes for day passes at either trail entrance, but we’d love to have you join us as members – ski all winter and support the maintenance of the trails by our hard-working volunteers.

Day users can pay will be able to pay by cash at either end of the trail or by e-transfer at massie.skiclub@gmail.com. For insurance purposes, please pre-register on our Day Use page, or fill out the envelope at the trail entrances. Thank you.

Please help preserve the hard work of our groomers. No snowshoeing, animals, or walking on the track-set ski trails.

Gary is on the trail working in another couple of centimetres of snow. Trails should be in great shape. A reminder that the trails are usually always groomed Saturday and Sunday mornings. Enjoy!

The trail is being packed and track set again today. Conditions will be a bit soft still, but it will be beautiful skiing. Kudos to all our dedicated volunteer groomers, Carl, Gary, Paul and Mark, who are committed to keeping our trail in tip top shape. Thanks guys!

What a lovely snowfall that was! Paul is out this morning, packing and grooming again. Tracks may be a bit soft, but it will be oh so beautiful out there. Enjoy! Don't forget our new parking lot near the main entrance if the road parking at the back entrance is

Well, what a difference a day makes. Thanks to a streamer that parked itself over the area overnight, we have over 30 cm of snow to work with this morning. Gary is out now, packing and setting tracks. It's taking a little longer than usual. All trails will be open

The weather is trending in the right direction but the trail took a bit of a beating from the rain interlude yet there is still a base, albeit a somewhat damp one. Carl is out there this morning setting tracks. They are shallow and wet in places. Ski with caution!

We had a little bit of fresh snow and ice pellets to work with this morning. Paul is out grooming the trail. Conditions will be fair to good. The tracks will be fast. The Blue trail is still closed and the big hills will be rough. Best bet for an

It's a real mixed bag out there. Gary is out there checking for windfall and setting new tracks. Conditions range from poor to good. The green trail is in pretty good shape. The yellow trail is in poor shape, and the red and pink trails are in fair shape. Downhills

Gary reports from the trail that we have maintained our base, yay. There is 5 cm of fresh snow on top of a hard base. The tracks will be shallow and there will be a few damp spots, but it is totally skiable. Please stay off the centre Blue trail

The trail base remains in good shape but the groomers are asking that skiers stay off the trail as it is too soft. The thaw and rain followed by a freeze up is not a bad thing – it will make for a great solid base for the winter ahead.

Carl is out grooming this morning and reports the tracks are setting in very nicely. It might be one of the last days for a pretty darn nice ski before our winter weather temporarily leaves us. Hope you can get out!
