Trail Update
The trails were groomed again today and most of them are now open with reported good tracks. Please ski up the big hills as they all have wet areas. The centre Blue trails are still closed because they are too wet. Enjoy!
Ski a 9.6 kilometre groomed trail network running through the forested, rolling hills of Grey County between Owen Sound and Meaford. Enjoy the solitude and beauty of a back-country ski with the added bonus of track-set grooming for classic cross country skiing (with two sets of tracks in many areas).
You’ll find a mix of trails from easy to intermediate, and while Massie Hills has its share of hills, including some steep sections, there’s nothing too extreme or too long.
The Owen Sound Cross Country Ski Club maintains the trails on Grey Sauble Conservation property, and our dedicated groomers head out early in the morning at least twice a week – with an additional second weekend groom when Mother Nature has been extra generous.
The varied terrain and mix of cedar, pine and hardwood bush makes the area excellent for snowshoeing treks – enjoyed best when you venture into the virgin snow well off to the side of the tracks. (Please be very mindful of the tracks.)
You’ll find donation boxes for day passes at either trail entrance, but we’d love to have you join us as members – ski all winter and support the maintenance of the trails by our hard-working volunteers.
Day users can pay will be able to pay by cash at either end of the trail or by e-transfer at massie.skiclub@gmail.com. For insurance purposes, please pre-register on our Day Use page, or fill out the envelope at the trail entrances. Thank you.
Please help preserve the hard work of our groomers. No snowshoeing, animals, or walking on the track-set ski trails.

There’s pretty good skiing on the trails we’ve been able to groom – the blue to the green from the back entrance, straight through to the main entrance parking lot. Please stay off the ungroomed trails as they need more time to freeze up. Enjoy!
The good news is that the base has survived. With a good freeze up and some fresh snow we could be out there again soon. Stay tuned…
While we are waiting for the snow to return, it’s a good time to catch up on some upcoming events. Starting today, we have a free ski exchange with Sauble Ski Club. It runs until the 17th, so there is still hope you can try out their trails. We also have exchanges with the Bruce
Carl reports that the tracks are still in great shape but they are glazed and very fast. Use caution if skiing today.
A bit annoying, this yo-yo weather! There will be no grooming until the temperature drops below zero again. It will still be skiable but soft and wet in places. Stay tuned….
